A little bit of calm in a busy world….
I like to offer a little bit of calm in a busy world of hectic schedules with my holistic treatments. I believe in the powerful healing effects of touch and how massage plays a vital role in maintaining good health and energy balance. I believe by taking time out to relax and de-stress the body and mind, that your whole being slows down, relaxes, and becomes much calmer, rejuvenated and rebalanced. I work in three clinics, Body Logic in Battersea, (SW11), Treat Balham in Balham, (SW12) and Shenshakti in Vicoria (SW1), London.
I treat holistically and therefore tailor-make your treatment according to individual needs, so elements of the different therapies may be combined. I use a variety of techniques, both Eastern and Western, to help you get the maximum benefit out of your treatment.

Indian Head Massage
Based on the ancient traditional form of Champi (head massage) practised in India for over 1,000 years. This is particularly good for office workers as it concentrates on the shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp and face releasing tension and promoting a sense of well-being, tranquillity and relaxation. This treatment is done fully clothed with no oil and in a seated position. The areas worked on often suffer from muscular tension from sitting in front of a computer and this is a lovely treatment which helps to release that tension, alleviate eye-strain and relieve stress held in the head. Deeply relaxing.

This treatment is exceptionally suitable to practise in the office environment. It is a revitalising stress buster that you can regularly incorporate into your day at the office and will only take half an hour! Relax, Rejuvenate and Recharge – in your office! Amma Fusion Massage
Amma Fusion massage uses an exciting blend of the most effective Eastern massage techniques and draws from disciplines such as acupressure, table shiatsu and tuina.
Utilising the model of meridians, or pathways of energy, amma is similar to acupuncture but uses the firm gentle pressure of hands to encourage movement of ki (energy) and to unblock stagnant ki.
Amma Fusion Massage works holistically and also targets specific problems and is great if you need re-energising as it focuses on re-balancing the body.
Amma is great for preventative health care and can be used to help treat conditions such as

Reiki
Reiki is a hands-on healing technique. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life (Rei) Energy (Ki). It is the vital life energy which flows through all living things and can be activated for the purpose of healing. Reiki practitioners tap into this universal life energy to promote healing in others. By placing their hands on the recipient’s body the recipient’s energy flow is activated thus strengthening their energy flow and self-healing ability. Based on the Usui method, a Reiki treatment is deeply relaxing as mind and body become more balanced. This treatment is done fully clothed on a massage table.

How massage works….
On a physical level massage invigorates body systems which may have got blocked. It stimulates circulation, boosts immunity, removes toxins, improves skin and muscle condition. Massage helps the body to relax and remove tensions. Massage improves your physical, mental and emotional well being leaving the body calm and rebalanced. If the body is calm the mind is too, and visa versa. The touch of massage is deeply soothing and comforting for the mind, body, and spirit aiding the body's self-healing ability.
A little bit about de-stressing…
Stress can be both positive and negative. Sometimes stress helps us perform to our best ability but sometimes stress effects us negatively when we don’t respond successfully to it. If we hold too much negative stress in our bodies, we start to see the physical effects eg insomnia, migraines, constipation.
When our body perceives danger our flight of fight response kicks in. Adrenalin is released to help us, our heart rate increases, our blood vessels contract, our blood pressure rises and our digestive system shuts down, and our muscles contract – all to help us move quickly either to fight or make a quick escape. If the perceived danger is removed or we have responded and escaped the danger the fight of flight has been useful. But if the stress cause has not gone the unused stress response remains in the body and it can leave us feeling tense and unrelaxed. This fight or flight response is useful when responding to real physical threat but in today’s fast moving modern world, the causes of stress are more indistinct - eg moving house, relationship problems, changing jobs, commuting - without knowing that the danger has passed it is difficult for the body to know when it is time to relax , slow down and recover. As we react more and more to stressful situations and the responses are not released or we don’t deal with them or remove the stress our body will physically show distress.
How does massage help us de-stress?
Massage allows essential switch-off time for relaxation and recuperation. Massage releases tensions held in the body through manipulation, toxins are released and removed through lymphatic drainage and circulation is improved increasing oxygen and nutrients supply. It also stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the system which slows the body down, ie opposite to the fight of flight response. It helps to relax all the body systems bringing the body back into a state of balance.
